This
month's question - Spring 2006
Q: Hi Greg,
Is there any way to receive email notifications when
a file is committed to our Subversion repository?
A: Yes, once your repository is configured
with it, the svnnotify tool provides a highly-readable HTML-formatted email every time a file is
committed.
Click here for an example of what the email messages look like.
Svnnotify sends its notification message to a single email address, so you can
easily add an alias on your mail server that delivers to all of
your team members. Simply contact
us to set up your account with this helpful tool, and start seeing the activity
in your repository as it happens.
This is a great way to enable informal peer review and to potentially catch source code problems before they make it further into your release process.
